9  Easy  going  Angyo!

〜植木の安行〜

     Do you know the town Angyo？ If you go to Angyo now,you can still find a lot of plants and flowers.  Yes, Angyo is famous for its plants and flowers.  You can easily have a look at its history.  Let’s go back to the past!

　

   There were two key persons in the history.  Mr. Ina and Mr.Yoshida.      Mr. Ina Hanjuroji（伊奈半十郎治）began to cultivate Angyo in 1618.      This was the start of Angyo’s history.   Then, from 1652 to 1654,  Mr. Yoshida Gonnosho(吉田権之丞) started selling flowers and plants to Edo . He grew them in Angyo to be sold in Edo.    On January 18th, 1657 , there was a big fire in Edo .  This gave Angyo a big chance to develop its industry by selling more and more flowers and plants to Edo .

    In the late 19th century, they started to export and import new kinds of fruit trees and roses to and from China and Europe .      They have good soil, good weather and their own tried and true traditional techniques for growing plants and flowers.  Please look at picture (A).  It shows “nemawashi", one of their techniques.   This is why they have succeeded so well in growing plants and flowers. Lisa： Anthony,  this is the Green Center．
I often come here to play with my little sister and brother．
They like flowers very much．
Anthony： Oh, I see． There are lots of plants and flowers．
What a nice surprise！
Lisa： Yes, there are many different kinds of plants and flowers．
We can enjoy them throughout the year．
I like this cactus greenhouse the best．
Anthony： Oh, so many cactuses！ Aren't they strange? 安行にあるグリーンセンター。植木に限らず熱帯温室などさまざまな施設がある。
Lisa： Do you like flowers, Anthony？
Anthony： Yes, but I prefer birds.

There are some beautiful birds over there！
Lisa： You are right．
Peacocks and ducks have very beautiful wings, don't they?
Anthony： By the way, you don’t look so happy today． 　Cactuses(サボテン)and Greenhouse(温室)
What’s wrong？
Lisa： I have an interview test tomorrow, so I am a little nervous．
Anthony： Oh, I see． Just take it easy！
Lisa： Do you mean not to take it seriously？
Anthony： It’s just an expression, Lisa． It means you have to relax．
It is important to take a breath！ Just take a deep breath！
Lisa： OK. Thank you. I think I can do that.
